Tek & Nika Series (dark)
This is a dark fantasy series, about indigenous shapeshifters in the northeastern forests of what is now the USA. Violence is not pervasive, but when it occurs it can be horrific.
I’ve tried to retain the essence of the cultures and myths that inspired this story, but keep in mind that it is fantasy, not a retelling of existing stories and myths.
For those who wish to know: I am not aware of having indigenous heritage. However, according to familysearch.org, Mary Jemison (1743-1833) is in my family tree, as a distant cousin. She was adopted by two Seneca women in the 1750s, and lived the rest of her life as an indigenous.
